There is much misinformation and myths going around about getting athletic scholarships and studying in the US so let’s debunk some of them:
- Everyone that applies gets a Full scholarship.
We wish it was true, but it doesn’t work like that. The percentage of athletes that get a full scholarship is low. Hence, many athletes don’t even get a scholarship at all! There are a lot of factors involved in getting a scholarship (grades, athlete level, test scores, etc.)
- Anything under Division I isn’t worth it.
Not at all! Whether you are in Division II, NAIA or Division I, you can have an amazing experience as a student-athlete! Keep in mind that you may not have the same goals as other student-athletes (college, city, degrees etc.) So it’s something that you want to take into consideration when applying to college and scholarships.
- They probably won’t offer any scholarships in the sport I play.
Wrong! They are plenty of scholarships out there, you may just need a little help to find them (Hi! That’s why we are here!)
