    Personal Information

Annick van Pijkeren is a 16-year-old (born in 2008) from the Netherlands with a dynamic international upbringing. She spent her early years in Bahrain before returning to the Netherlands, where she thrived academically, excelling in mathematics and participating in the advanced learning program, Different Day. This program nurtured her analytical and creative thinking through thematic activities such as philosophy, teamwork, and problem-solving.

After primary school, Annick attended a bilingual grammar school for a year before moving to Taiwan in 2021. There, she joined Taipei European School (TES), where she accelerated her studies, starting in Year 9 instead of Year 8 after passing her assessments. Annick completed the IGCSE program in 2024, taking subjects like Additional Mathematics, Coordinated Science, and Economics, and participating in math competitions. She began the IB program in August 2024, studying Higher Level Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches), Biology, Sport and Exercise Science, along with Standard Level English A: Literature, Dutch A: Literature, and Geography. She is expected to graduate in 2026.

Outside school, Annick enjoys spending time with her family, including her younger brother Boaz and their dog Muji. She balances her academic rigor with her love for sports and social activities, often playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball with friends, or enjoying outings to the night market or cinema.

    Athletic Information

Annick's journey in soccer began at the age of five with her local club HDS in the Netherlands, where she played for seven years, leading her team to multiple league victories. Her passion for the sport remained unwavering after moving to Taiwan.

At TES, Annick joined the girls’ varsity and boys’ junior varsity soccer teams. She also played with MFA, a local club associated with Glasgow Rangers, competing in boys’ leagues and international tournaments like JSSL in Singapore, where her team finished second. When MFA’s girls' team for her age dissolved, Annick transitioned to AC Taipei, a semi-professional women’s team competing in Taiwan's Development League, with aspirations for the Mulan League (first division).

In November 2024, Annick’s skills earned her a spot in the U18 All-Star team at the FOBISIA international soccer tournament, selected from among 80 participants. She will compete in Thailand in January 2025 against international high schools and universities.

Annick’s dedication to soccer extends beyond playing; she has attended training camps run by KNVB and Ajax during holidays. At TES, she plays for all three varsity teams—soccer, basketball, and volleyball—and assists as a coach for younger students. She has been recognized as the TES Most Valuable Player of the Year three times and was awarded TES Female Athlete of the Year in 2024.

Annick’s relentless drive, team spirit, and commitment to improvement make her a versatile and impactful athlete, both on and off the field.
